Η Σίλβια Νικολαΐδη είναι σκηνοθέτης και βιντεοκαλλιτέχνιδα. Είναι απόφοιτος των
Berlinale Talents και Talents Sarajevo και μέλος του Σωματείου Σκηνοθετών Κύπρου.
Απέκτησε το πτυχίο της στις Καλές Τέχνες από το Chelsea College of Art and Design
(University of the Arts) στο Λονδίνο και το μεταπτυχιακό της από την Ακαδημία
Κινηματογράφου και Τηλεόρασης (FAMU) στην Πράγα, Τσεχία. Άρχισαν να συνεργάζονται
ως δίδυμο δημιουργών ταινιών από το 2012. Οι ταινίες τους έχουν προβληθεί σε πολλά
διεθνή φεστιβάλ και έχουν βραβευθεί με το Βραβείο Κριτικής Επιτροπής στο 33ο Φεστιβάλ
Μεσογειακού Κινηματογράφου Αλεξάνδρειας στην Αίγυπτο και στο 3D Korea Film Festival
στη Σεούλ.
Το ντοκιμαντέρ τους «Soma & Lil», σε συνεργασία με την Ευρωπαϊκή Πρωτεύουσα
Πολιτισμού Aarhus 2017 στη Δανία, έχει παρουσιαστεί και διαγωνιστεί σε περισσότερα από
20 διεθνή φεστιβάλ, συμπεριλαμβανομένου του 19ου PÖFF Short Film Festival στο Ταλίν
της Εσθονίας, και έχει βραβευθεί με δύο Βραβεία Καλύτερης Ταινίας και ένα Βραβείο Κοινού. Έχουν συνεργαστεί με την Ευρωπαϊκή Πρωτεύουσα Πολιτισμού Πάφος 2017 στην
Κύπρο, μέσω της οποίας επιμελήθηκαν την έκθεση φωτογραφίας με τίτλο «The Alien Trail»
με φωτογράφους από το Magnum Photo Agency και σκηνοθέτησαν ένα σύντομο
ντοκιμαντέρ με τον ίδιο τίτλο.
Είναι ιδρυτές και διευθυντές του Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Πάφου στην Κύπρο.
Nicolas Iordanou, photographer and filmmaker, was born in Paphos, Cyprus. He studied
Photography at Columbia College Chicago. He worked as a conflict photographer for several
years and then focused on documentary photography. He is mostly concerned about the
human condition documenting issues such as displacement, homelessness and art.
Sylvia Nicolaides is a filmmaker and a video artist. She is a Berlinale Talents and Talents
Sarajevo alumna and a member of the Directors Guild of Cyprus. She received her Bachelor’s
Fine Arts Degree from Chelsea College of Art and Design (University of the Arts) in London
and her Master’s Degree in the Film and Television Academy (FAMU) in Prague, Czech
Republic. They started working together as a filmmaking duo since 2012. Their films has
been screened in several international film festivals and awarded with the Jury’s Award at
the 33rd Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival in Egypt and at the 3D Korea Film Festival
in Seoul. Their documentary ‘Soma & Lil’ which was in collaboration with the European
Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017 in Denmark, has been presented and competed in more than
20 international film festivals including the 19th PÖFF Short Film Festival in Tallinn Estonia,
and has been awarded with two Best Film Awards and one Audience Award. They have
collaborated with the European Capital of Culture Pafos 2017 in Cyprus, through which they
have curated a photography exhibition titled ‘The Alien Trail’ with photographers from the
Magnum Photo Agency and directed a short documentary with the same title.
They are the founders and directors of the Paphos International Film Festival in Cyprus.
