International Independent Film Festival of Athens focuses on enhancing and encouraging

worldwide independent, innovative cinema and visual arts.

The dates for 2024 are 1st to 10th of March 2024 at:

Sections

 

The following official sections accept submissions:
 

• Deer International Competition - Features

​​

Eligible for Deer Competition are directors with no limitation to the number of films having done in the past. 

 

To apply to IFFA International Competition feature, films must fulfil all the following criteria:
- Fiction, documentary, experimental, visual art (from 59 minutes and over).

- All films should be completed after January 31st 2023. 

- The Festival considers works-in-progress provided that the film can be finalised in time for the festival.

- The Festival does not select films on premiere status.

• Deer International Competition - Shorts

​​

Eligible for Deer Competition are directors with no limitation to the number of short films having done in the past. 

 

To apply to IFFA International Competition shorts, films must fulfil all the following criteria:
 

- Fiction, documentary, experimental, visual art (under 59 minutes).

- All submissions should be completed after January 31st 2023. 

- IFFA considers works-in-progress provided that the film can be finalised in time for the festival. 

- IFFA does not select films on premiere status.

Entry Fee

In order to complete the submission, the payment is required according to the below deadlines:

The entry fees are applied to each submitted film.

How to apply

​

- To complete the submission the Festival requires a preview copy of the film with english subtitles with the exception of English and Greek spoken films.

​

- The preview copy should be uploaded to a secured streaming platform, such as Vimeo. The URL and password should be submitted through the online entry form of the festival. The preview link should be private, downloadable and available up until the end of February 9th 2024. 

 

- Once submitted, the preview copy will only be shared within the programming team of the festival for the purpose of deciding if and/or it will be presented.

 

- Submission Deadline: 31st of January 2024.

 

- Submissions must be completed online via:

- Incomplete and/or late submissions will not be taken into consideration.

 

- If selected the programming department will sent an official invitation to participate. 

 

- The Festival is under no obligation to communicate the reasoning behind its choices with regard to films that are not selected.

 

 

Juries and Awards​

 

• Deer International Competition - Features

​​

A national jury composed of renowned personalities from the world of arts will select the winner from nine nominees who will be awarded as the Gold Deer for best feature film of the city of Athens.

 

The film will receive national distribution for exhibition in Greece. 

​

• ​Deer International Competition - Shorts

​​

A national jury composed of renowned personalities from the world of arts will select the winner from all nominees who will be awarded as the Gold Deer for best short film of the city of Athens.

​

The film will receive national distribution for exhibition in Greece (prior to the screening of the Feature Film). 

​

Shipping Details​

​

The shipping costs of materials submitted to the festival for selection purposes are covered by IFFA. All materials must be delivered on time for testing purposes.
