Bani Khoshnoudi is a filmmaker and visual artist from Tehran and immigrated to the United States in 1979 during the revolution. She studied architecture, photography and cinema at the University of Texas at Austin and was studio artist at the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program in New York. Her works explore themes of exile, modernity and its effects, memory and the invisible. Her films and work have been shown at festivals, museums and art centers around the world.

Synopsis
El Chinero is a location in the desert of Baja, California. Despite its name, there is little evidence of a tragedy that took place there in 1916. Hundreds of Chinese immigrants died while fleeing violence in mainland Mexico. How does one fill the void with images, construct an archive where none exists? (Antoine Thirion)
