He graduated from the film directing programme at the Gobelins Animation School in Paris. Over the years, Bertrand Mandico has cultivated a unique aesthetic and a flare for dark humour that juxtaposes macabre elements and burlesque. He has enriched his film studies with various editions of fixed form, photography, collage and drawings. Bertrand has also worked on promoting forgotten or underrated filmmakers (for example by planning a retrospective exhibition by Walerian Borowczyk in Warsaw). His audiovisual creations (a total of 40 short films, TV commercials and music films) have won numerous awards.

Synopsis
Στις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα, στο νησί Λα Ρεϋνιόν, πέντε έφηβοι καλών οικογενειών, ερωτευμένοι με τον αποκρυφισμό, διαπράττουν ένα άγριο έγκλημα. Ένας Ολλανδός καπετάνιος τους παρασέρνει σε μία καταπιεστική κρουαζιέρα σε ένα στοιχειωμένο, ερειπωμένο ιστιοφόρο. Εξαντλημένα από τις μεθόδους του Καπετάνιου, τα πέντε αγόρια ετοιμάζουν ανταρσία. At the beginning of the 20th century, on the island of La Réunion, five adolescents coming from wealthy families, enamoured with the occult, commit a savage crime. A Dutch Captain lures them into a repressive cruise on a haunted, dilapidated sailboat. Exhausted by the Captain’s methods, the five boys prepare to mutiny. Their port of call is a supernatural island with lush vegetation and bewitching powers, holding a disturbing secret.
