Marie Losier invites us into the world of The Residents, an iconic figure in American avant-garde music for over fifty years. Hidden behind their anonymity and iconic costumes, this San Francisco-based collective revolutionised the underground scene with their sound experiments and daring aesthetic.

Born in 1972, Marie Losier is a Franco-American filmmaker and visual artist whose films and videos are regularly screened in museums, galleries, biennales and festivals. She has realised numerous avant-garde, intimate, poetic and playful portraits of filmmakers, musicians and artists such as Alan Vega, the Kuchar brothers, Guy Maddin, Richard Foreman, Tony Conrad, Genesis P-Orridge, Peaches and Felix Kubin. Barking in the Dark, a portrait of the legendary American music collective The Residents, is her new film.
