Μπορεί το καλοκαίρι να πάει στραβά; Όχι γι' αυτήν την παρέα κολεγιόπαιδων, φίλων που συναντήθηκαν τυχαία και συνέχισαν να κάνουν παρέα, απολαμβάνοντας την αρχή των καλοκαιρινών τους διακοπών. Ο Άιζακ χωρίζει με τη Μάγια, ενώ συνδέεται με τον μεγαλύτερο αδερφό του Μπεν και την πρώην κοπέλα του Λίλα, βιώνοντας τις πρώτες χαρές ενός χαλαρού ταξιδιού. Γοητευτικό ημι-οδικό ταξίδι σε chiaroscuro που μοιάζει οπτικά με τα πρώτα έργα του Jim Jarmusch, με κυρίως αυτοσχέδιες ερμηνείες από νέους ηθοποιούς. Κομψή απλότητα και ανεπιτήδευτη φρεσκάδα, με νοσταλγικό τρόπο φέρνουν στο μυαλό μας όλη τη γεύση των καλοκαιριών των παιδικών μας χρόνων. Η ταινία γυρίστηκε με Canon EOS 5D, μια μηχανή που χρησιμοποιείται συνήθως για φωτογραφία και η ταινία κόστισε συνολικά 7.000 δολάρια. 

Synopsis:

Can a summer be a bummer? Not for this group of college friends that met up by accident and continued hanging out aimlessly, enjoying the beginning of their summer vacation. Isaac breaks up with Maya and joins up with his older brother Ben and his ex-girlfriend Lila, experiencing the early joys of a laid back journey. Charming semi-road trip in chiaroscuro, visually resembling the early works of Jim Jarmusch with mostly improvised performances by young actors. Elegant simplicity and unpretentious freshness in a nostalgic manner, bringing in mind the summers of our childhood years. The film was shot with a Canon EOS 5D, a camera usually used for photography and the film costed 7.000 dollars.

Zach Weintraub (ΗΠΑ, 1977) Συγκλονισμένος από τον παράξενο κόσμο της σχολής κινηματογράφου στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Νέας Υόρκης, ο Ζακ αποφάσισε να αποφοιτήσει ένα εξάμηνο νωρίτερα και να περάσει το δεύτερο μισό του τελευταίου έτους, κάνοντας μια ταινία μεγάλου μήκους. Σέρνοντας μαζί τον ανυποψίαστο φίλο και συνεργάτη του Nandan Rao, επέστρεψαν στη γενέτειρά του, την Olympia, όπου θα ήταν ελεύθεροι να εργαστούν σύμφωνα με τις κοινές τους αξίες γύρω από την κινηματογραφική δημιουργία: στενή συνεργασία, μικρό και σφιχτοδεμένο συνεργείο, μαζί με την τήρηση ενός συγκεκριμένου στόχου: να ενθαρρύνουν τον αυθορμητισμό. 

Zach Weintraub (USA, 1977) Stifled and overwhelmed by the weird world of film school at New York University, Zach resolved to graduate a semester earlier and spend the latter half of his senior year scraping together a feature film. Dragging his unsuspecting friend and collaborator Nandan Rao along, they returned to his hometown of Olympia, WA, where they would be free to work in accordance with their shared values of moviemaking : heavy collaboration, a minimal and tight-knit crew, as well as a willy-nilly schedule to encourage spontaneity.
