Having made a number of short films, Dominga Sotomayor (1985, Santiago de Chile) directed, in 2012, her first feature film, De jueves a domingo, winner of the Tiger Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival. Following this came Mar, 2014, presented in the Forum section of the Berlin Film Festival, and Tarde para morir joven (2018), Best Director Award at Locarno. In 2020, she joined Carla Simón to direct the short film Correspondencia, a participant in San Sebastián's Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section and winner of the Best Latin-American Short Film at Mar del Plata. In 2021, she participated in the collective film The Year of the Everlasting Storm, shown as a special screening at Cannes.
Έχοντας γυρίσει αρκετές ταινίες μικρού μήκους, η Dominga Sotomayor (1985, Σαντιάγο της Χιλής) σκηνοθέτησε το 2012 την πρώτη της ταινία μεγάλου μήκους, De jueves a domingo, που κέρδισε το βραβείο Tiger στο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου του Ρότερνταμ.
