Tολμηρό, πηγαίο και μη συνταγιακό, το έργο της Béatrice Kordon προτείνει μία έντονη κι ανήσυχη αισθητικά εμπειρία. Οι δύο τελευταίες της ταινίες, “Dithyrambe pour Dionysos - et avec la nuit reviendra le temps de l’oubli” (2007) και “Les insensés, fragments pour un passage” (2014), παρουσιάστηκαν για πρώτη φορά στο ελληνικό κοινό, ενώ αποτελούν τα δύο πρώτα μέλη ενός τριπτύχου σε εξέλιξη και βρίσκονται στο σταυροδρόμι ντοκιμαντέρ, εικαστικών τεχνών και πειραματικού κινηματογράφου. Είτε πρόκειται για θεήλατο, διονυσιακό μεθύσι, είτε για αχαρτογράφητες εσωτερικές εκρήξεις μεταξύ σκοταδιού και φωτός, η Béatrice Kordon εφευρίσκει μία ολόδική της, πρωτάκουστη γλώσσα, κινηματογραφικά και γλωσσολογικά, στην άκρη των ονείρων αισθητηριακά, που ξεφεύγουν από τον οποιοδήποτε έλεγχό μας. Η Γαλλίδα σκηνοθέτιδα ολοκλήρωσε το 2022 το τρίτο μέρος του τρίπτυχού της, το οποίο κινηματογράφισε στην Ελλάδα κι αποτέλεσε την αφορμή για να δείξουμε τη δουλειά της. (Όλια Βερροιοπούλου)

The work Béatrice Kordon is bold, original and non-formal, suggesting an intense and restless aesthetic experience. Her last two films, "Dithyrambe pour Dionysos - et avec la nuit reviendra le temps de l'oubli" (2007) and "Les insensés, fragments pour un passage" (2014) were presented for the first time to the Greek public; they can be regarded as parts of a triptych in progress. Whether it is a cynical, Dionysian drunkenness, or uncharted inner explosions between darkness and light, Béatrice Kordon invents her own, unprecedented language, both on a cinematic and linguistic level; a dream state that escape us. In 2022, the French directress completed her latest film, which had been shooting in Greece for the past year; it constitutes the final part of her triptych in progress and the reason we decided to showcase her work. Σύνοψη:
Κλεισμένος στο πλοίο από το οποίο δεν υπάρχει διαφυγή, ο τρελός παραδίδεται στο ποτάμι με τα χίλια του χέρια, στη θάλασσα με τους χίλιους δρόμους, σε αυτή τη μεγάλη αβεβαιότητα που είναι έξω από τα πάντα. Είναι αιχμάλωτος στη μέση αυτού που είναι ο πιο ελεύθερος, ο πιο ανοιχτός δρόμος. Είναι ο κατ' εξοχήν Επιβάτης — δηλαδή, ο αιχμάλωτος του περάσματος. Και η χώρα στην οποία θα έρθει είναι άγνωστη, όπως είναι, μόλις αποβιβαστεί, η γη από την οποία προέρχεται.

Synopsis:
Locked in a ship where there is no escape from, the madman is delivered to the river with its thousand arms, the sea with its thousand roads, to that great uncertainty which transcends everything. He is a prisoner in the midst of what is the freest, most open route. He is the Passenger par excellence — that is, the prisoner of the passage. And the land he will arrive is unknown, as is, once he disembarks, the land he comes from.

Σύνοψη:
Ο Διόνυσος, θεός του κρασιού, γιος του Δία και μιας θνητής, μισός άνθρωπος μισός θεός, μήτε άνθρωπος μήτε θεός, μαζί θνητός και αθάνατος, μας προσφέρει έναν κόσμο, στον οποίο οι ταυτότητες δεν είναι ξεκάθαρες και ο χρόνος δεν είναι γραμμικός. Πέρα από τον ίδιο τον μύθο, η ταινία αυτή επιχειρεί να αποκαταστήσει το νόημα της μυθικής πράξης – δημιουργώντας μία άχρονη, μη ιστορική αφήγηση, που μας διηγείται τον τρόπο με τον οποίο οι άνδρες συνδέονται με τον κόσμο.

Synopsis:
Dionysus is the God of wine, son of Zeus and a mortal woman; neither a human nor god, mortal and immortal at the same time, he offers us a world, in which identities are not clear-cut and time is not linear. Beyond the myth itself, this film attempts to restore the meaning of the mythical act – creating a timeless, non-historical depiction, narrating the way men connect with the world.

Για τη Béatrice Kordon
Η Béatrice Kordon σπούδασε διεύθυνση φωτογραφίας στη Femis. Οι ταινίες της εξερευνούν την ίδια την κινηματογραφική γραφή και βαδίζουν μεταξύ ντοκιμαντέρ, πειραματικού κινηματογράφου, ηχητικών εγκαταστάσεων και εικαστικών τεχνών, υφαίνοντας την αφήγησή τους μέσα από πολλαπλά νήματα ποικίλων πηγών, όπως βίντεο, φιλμ, φωτογραφίες, πίνακες ζωγραφικής, αρχεία. Συνεργάζεται επίσης με άλλους σκηνοθέτες ως διευθύντρια φωτογραφίας και μοντέζ, ενώ διευθύνει κι εργαστήρια σκηνοθεσίας σε διάφορα ιδρύματα. Από το 2018 συνεργάζεται στο θέατρο, με τους σκηνοθέτες Marie Lelardoux και Malte Schwind, ενώ από το 2013, ασχολείται με την ξυλογλυπτική και τις εικαστικές εγκαταστάσεις.

About Béatrice Kordon
After studying Cinematography at La Femis, Béatrice Kordon started making films that explore and question the cinematic writing itself. Her films combine elements that can be found in documentary practices, experimental cinema, sound installations and visual arts, working their narration as a weaving of multiple threads and various sources, such as video, film, photos, paintings, archives. She has also collaborated with other directors as a DoP or editor, while leading cinema workshops in various institutions. Since 2018, she has been active in the Performing Arts field, working with theater directors Marie Lelardoux and Malte Schwind. She has been also involved in wood sculptures and installations since 2013.
